As with other games on Play Alberta, lottery purchases will be subject to Account Limits you have set.  Currently, “Bet Limits” are applicable to lottery purchases.  You can review your Account Limits by accessing your “My Account” screen, and selecting “Account Limits”.

Players enrolled in the Self-Exclusion program are not eligible to purchase lottery tickets through Play Alberta.

Sometimes gambling can stop being a fun and affordable activity. Not everyone can gamble in a safe, responsible way. For some, gambling can become a problem. The more signs a person shows, the greater the chance that they may have lost control of their gambling. Visit the GameSense Warning Signs page for more information.

GameSense and PlayAlberta are proud to provide you with tools to help you manage your play to ensure gambling remains fun!  We are pleased to offer the following limits for players:

  • Deposit Limits
  • Loss Limits
  • Bet Limits
  • Daily Play Limits, and
  • Reality Checks

These can be set for daily, weekly, monthly intervals, or any combination that suits your style.  Once set, you are able to adjust your limits, however, any relaxing of limits, will be subject to a 24hr waiting period before they take effect.

For more information on these limits, please visit the Account Limits screen.

We understand the people may lose track of time while they’re enjoying themselves.  We have added a feature which will show an alert to you at prescribed intervals reminding you of the time you’ve spent on the site, as well as some additional information (wagers, wins, losses).  Click here to adjust the settings.

When you set yourself a limit, whether it's daily, weekly, monthly, or any combination, the limit with the strictest rule will apply.

Example: You set a daily deposit limit to 100$, and a monthly deposit limit of $300.  You will be able to deposit up to 100$ daily. However, once you exceed the monthly limit of $300, you will be unable to deposit more until the beginning of the following month.

For any limits you exceed, a message indicating which limit, and when it expires will be shown for your information.

Deposit limits enable you, as the player, to set up personal limits on how much money you can deposit onto the site.  These can be daily, weekly, or monthly limits.  Click here on how to set your own limits

You can currently set daily, weekly and monthly limits.  Below are when these reset:

  • Daily – resets at 12:01am
  • Weekly – resets on Monday at 12:01am
  • Monthly – resets on the first day of the following month at 12:01am

The Loss Limit is based on your total losses within the time period, including any winnings you may have received during this time frame.

Example:  You set a daily loss limit of $100.  During the course of your play, you have wagered $75, and have won $25.

Your current loss is calculated as $50 ($100 start – 75 wagered + 25 winnings).

Self-Exclusion starts the moment you sign up and lasts for the period of time chosen by you. You are not able to withdraw or cancel your agreement before its expiry date.

When you complete the Self-Exclusion Agreement, AGLC Self-Exclusion Program staff will attempt to contact you within 10 business days of self-excluding.  This contact is meant to provide additional resource information, as well as check-in to see how you are doing on the Program.  The initial contact will be via email, if you wish to not receive contact after initial contact, you may request this by replying to the message.  If you have an alternate contact method, you can share it with the Program staff when contacted as well.

For information on resources please visit https://selfexclusion.ca/.

We respect your commitment to self-exclusion, and for that reason, your account is inaccessible during your agreement duration.  Your wallet will keep the money if you choose to return after your agreement, however, if you wish to initiate a withdrawal, you will need to contact the PlayAlberta Customer Service Centre at (833) 920-1447.  Note: Withdrawals are still subject to Section 5 of the Terms and Conditions.

It’s understandable to want to help a loved one who is struggling with healthy gambling behaviours. However, only the person seeking exclusion can sign-up; no one else can do it for them.
